The Central Area Collaborative is pursuing an Eco-District Certification in an effort to unite much of the community work under a unified formal framework. Several organizations throughout the Central Area work daily to help the residents and community in a positive fashion. Many times these great works go unnoticed, unrecognized and unrewarded. By pursuing an Eco-District framework, the Central Area Collaborative looks to unite the mandatory three imperatives of Equity, Resilience and Climate Protection with a few more imperatives that help identify our specific community needs. As such, the Central Area Collaborative is looking for additional organizations to bring forth some ideas and learn about the process and the Central Area Collaboratives goal in adopting such a framework. Currently, the China-Town ID neighborhoods and Capitol Hill neighborhoods are using an Eco-District model to help unify common efforts and goals.
