Members of the Environmental Justice Committee and other equity and environmental stakeholders participated in an open forum roundtable event to discuss community led concerns and potential solutions for the mayors staff to investigate.

Our proposed suggestions

  • Efforts to better infuse youth and young adult access to our equity challenges throughout our communities
  • Applying an equity lens toward displacement
  • Creating a better “feedback loop” for community engagement– How are we creating access to opportunities for people trying to make ends’ meet to review and critique the solutions that the city has been working on?
  • Capacity building for POC-led organizations– in promoting our work around the EJ Fund, committee members underscored the importance of re-shifting city funding opportunities to prioritize POC-led organizations doing work in community, but limited in capacity to apply for and meet the demands of funding criteria, creating a downward spiral-effect.
